My boyfriend had the haggis scotch egg for starter which was amazing,... read more he then had the beef feather blade and mustard mash which he said was the nicest dish he’d ever eaten. 10/10. Don’t miss out.
It’s a good, honest restaurant.

It’s no wonder the restaurant was full – it deserves to be supported.

My partner and I visited for the umpteenth time last weekend and had another great visit.
Started with the best cocktails in Dumfries (highly recommend trying ‘A History... read more of Violet’) and we shared the Haggis scotch egg to start. The yolk was cooked to perfection and I wish we hadn’t bothered sharing once we tucked in…
For mains my partner had the Chicken Kiev which comes with a generous portion of Mac&cheese and tender stem broccoli. The chicken Kiev looked amazing and my partner commented it was the best comfort meal they’d had in a long time.
I had no choice but to go with my favourite dish - the mussels. Cooked beautifully, like every other time. Never an unopened mussel in the bowl, and I don’t know where the chef gets them, but these are the largest mussels I’ve ever seen.
We finished up with yet more cocktails, served by a really polite and welcoming team. I noticed the restaurant had also been redecorated since we were last in, and it looks very fresh and modern.
Easiest decision is always where to go for dinner - The Back Street!
Hardest decisions are what amazing food and drink and we having this time, since we can’t have it all!
Go eat here.. Just go.. stop reading pretentious reviews and go eat. Not much else I can say to drive the praise home.

It was busy, but well spaced. Staff were brilliant, really attentive and they were kept busy all night as the restaurant was full. Fab atmosphere.
As for the food, what can I say…another 5 star review. Fresh, innovative, tasty and presented beautifully. Not only that but the most reasonably priced restaurant. I had the Brie to start, followed by the burger then finished with white chocolate rice pudding. My partner had scallops, followed by seafood linguine and chocolate brownie. With drinks and water came to under £70. Incredible value.
A real gem of a restaurant. Thanks for a lovely evening. If we didn’t live so far away I guarantee we would be regulars. Keep up the amazing work.

The noise from the table of maybe 15 made conversation very difficult. Service was also a bit slow--probably due to the large group.
