I heard good things about this restaurant before making the journey to dine with a friend. I started off with the Breaded Brie which were overcooked and hollow. Then had... read more the “famous” chicken Kiev, there’s nothing famous about it. It was tough with the tiniest bit of tasteless garlic butter in about a 3rd of the whole thing. On the plus side of it all, the home made sticky toffee pudding was to die for and the service was ok. But unfortunately, I probably won’t be making the trip again.

I was trying to find adequate wording that would express how much I enjoyed my burger. I realised that being a big fan of Gordon Ramsay and a follower of... read more all his YouTube cooking videos the best way I could sum up my experience would be this:
Ramsay would be proud.
Requested the burger a very specific way & it was delivered to me matching my description to the very tomato.
Can’t speak highly enough of the overall experience, must be tough operating a restaurant during covid but the place was spotless, all of the servers wearing PPE & following all guidelines.
If you are from Dumfries, holidaying there or just passing through - as I was - I 100% recommend dining here.

Very disappointed with the food..very small portions and no feedback when I explained that although my steak was cooked the way I wanted there was so much salt on it... read more that it was burning my tongue and the one mushroom I got with it was far from fresh! I was with a party of 10 and most had a complaint about the food..including ice in the potatoes! Will definitely not return.

First time here and overall enjoyed the night, especially the food. They have a wide choice of gluten-free dishes which pleased my wife who is celiac.
The room is... read more large and a bit noisy and sometimes quite hard to hear each other talk, could maybe do with some sort of sound reduction.
The food was excellent I had the burger which was really tasty along with fries. What can I say about the fries they were absolutely delicious. The wife had the duck which she said melted in her mouth.
Thought the wine prices were a bit high for a so-so Chardonnay. Another wee quibble was the serviette's tiny wee things could either do with larger paper ones or have material ones, which can really make a difference to the overall feel of a restaurant. The waitress did supply an extra serviette when requested.
One thing to consider is that the restaurant is up 3 sets of steps with no lift which makes it difficult for anyone with a disability.

The menu was limited, not like it was posted online. Food was fine, but unadventurous besides the starter. Nice atmosphere but shuts down fairly early.
